DOT (Daniel Shoykhet) is an American-born, self-taught artist raised in New York and Chicago. His work, rooted in abstract expressionism and the optical art movement of the 20th century. It utilizes repeating geometric patterns enhanced by diverse color theories to create hallucinatory visual fields that challenge the viewer’s perception.
“The inspiration behind this design was actually a painting I did earlier this year,” DOT explains. “I wanted to achieve a spherical illusion using only straight lines, specifically parallelograms. I’m fascinated by visual illusions because they momentarily peel back a layer of reality.”
Gio (Giorgi Macharashvili) is a communication designer from Georgia, who brings a rich blend of cultural influences from his experiences across Europe and Mexico. In his Design Studio TONA, he and his partner draw inspiration from culture, art, history, and the world around them.
“This artwork is inspired by the formation of smoke, paying homage to the earliest cannabis cultures of the Far Eastern world,” Gio shares. “The abstract representation of smoke evokes the transient and elusive nature of these rituals, with swirling lines and kaleidoscopic spirals symbolizing the constant transformation of cultural identities.”
