MedMen, one of the country’s largest dispensary entities that has made a name for themselves within the state of California and Nevada make their landmark in one of the largest markets in the world, New York City. As a NYC-based brand, we at MARY were very excited to hear this news and share with you this exclusive visual walk-thru of the new location.
On April 20, 2018, MedMen Manhattan officially opens it’s door to the public. The 2,000-square-foot Midtown location will showcase the brand’s widely-celebrated, innovative retail concept that media have called the “The Apple Store of Weed.” MedMen Manhattan will introduce New York medical patients to its best-in-class, premium cannabis shopping experience, which has been largely embraced as the category leader in California and furthers MedMen’s mission to mainstream marijuana and de-stigmatize cannabis use for the masses.
We spoke with Daniel Yi, MedMen’s Senior Vice President of Corporate Communications for MedMen on what about the New York community made them want to open their newest location.
“The future of cannabis is a mainstream shopping experience where responsible adults and marijuana patients can access products in an inviting and familiar environment, that’s what MedMen aims to offer. We are proud to bring this experience to New York and showcase it in one of the most iconic shopping districts in the world.”
Under current New York jurisdiction and state regulation, MedMen Manhattan will be one of only three dispensaries legally permitted to operate in Manhattan. Per New York state law, MedMen Manhattan will only service medical patients, who are evaluated by a practitioner who is registered with the program and the patient must register and obtain an active NYS registry ID card in order to purchase product. In addition to residents of the state of NY, practitioners may also certify patients who are temporarily residing in NYS for the purpose of receiving care and treatment.
MedMen’s private label product offerings will include gel caps, tinctures, and the ever-popular vape pens.
MedMen has also been operating three other retail locations in the greater New York state area including Syracuse, Buffalo, and Long Island, as well as a state-of-the-art indoor cultivation and production facility in Utica.
